Light. Art. Joy.

Light:       Light as Art. What we do.
Art:           What we love. What inspires us.
Joy:           What we aspire to feel and share.

Thank you for your interest in this art exhibition, Joy. We are delighted to share it with you and thrilled to have raised $54,018 for the Joy initiative in our first exhibition.

We established The Montauk Lighting Co. with twin aims. To help our clients find the perfect lighting to enhance how they live, work and play. And to give back to the community, brightening the lives of those in need. Especially children.

Joy is in memory of our daughter, Cleo Eve. Our brightest light and our greatest joy.

One of the most special community partnerships for Montauk is with The Lester Prize and Starlight Children’s Foundation. As part of The Lester Prize’s Youth Category, we’ve loved supporting portraiture art-workshops for children in the Starlight Express Room. It’s a program for patients at PCH to be immersed in art, under the guidance of professional artists and special guests, guaranteed to spark a smile.

The opportunity to create and focus upon art during hospital stays can be transformative. At the very least it breaks up long and difficult days and at best, it can be a path to a new hobby, life-long passion and even a career. Something to focus on and to be proud of.

Having spent many months in hospital with our own daughter, we know that the smallest of kind gestures and positive distractions can be the brightest parts of the day. Our hope is that the funds raised through Joy will result in great outcomes for many children spending time as patients at PCH.

All proceeds from Joy will be donated to the continuation of art workshops at PCH, to be run by Starlight Children’s Foundation in collaboration with The Lester Prize.

And for all of you, who are reading about the exhibition, attending the exhibition, purchasing the art. The last few years have been challenging to say the least. We hope that Joy uplifts, inspires and makes you smile. That it is good for the soul.

The Townhouse, our studio space in West Leederville, has never felt more joyous. The beautiful colours and forms of the artworks are a sight to behold. We are so grateful to the artists who have shared their works. Please look them up, follow their creative journeys and support them. They are amazing people.

A very sincere and heartfelt thanks to our curator Jo Meredith. Jo is a delight – bringing the exhibition together and believing in the project and its objectives from the outset, always with the most positive energy and purest of intentions. Jo has also created two works for Joy. They are absolutely incredible. Thank you Jo.

We are indebted to the talented team at Block for making Joy come to life. They always know how to tell the story. Many of our other favourite suppliers have come on board to assist and we thank them for their generosity.

We look forward to welcoming you to experience this exhibition, Joy, once again in 2024 - more on that soon.
