Our Story
The Montauk Lighting Co. was born from a love of transitional American interiors. The style of lighting is inspired by the architecture of New York City and in particular, the Hamptons. The name is taken from that very area - you’ll find Montauk at the tip of Long Island.
The Montauk Lighting Co. was established in 2016 after identifying a gap in the Australian market for distinctive, high quality feature lighting. We are excited to bring that offering to Australia for both residential and commercial projects and are pleased to ship the lighting Australia-wide.
We take the work out of finding the perfect lighting and designing well lit spaces. Our passion is working with clients individually to understand the look and feel they want to achieve. We aim to narrow the selection of lighting down to a manageable size, so that our clients have fewer and better options to consider.
Currently, we are proud to be sourcing an extensive range of Visual Comfort, wired and certified specifically for the Australian market. Since 1987, Visual Comfort & Co. has been the premier resource for signature designer lighting in the USA. For over 30 years, Visual Comfort & Co. has produced lighting with some of the most influential names in design, using natural materials of exceptional quality and distinctive, hand-applied, living finishes.
We are also proud to be representing UK design studios - Tom Dixon, Tigermoth Lighting and Haberdashery along with Belgian outdoor lighting specialists, Authentage and US lighting specialist, Hudson Valley Lighting Group.
Creating extraordinary objects for everyday use, Tom Dixon creates distinctive, beautifully designed and expertly crafted statement lighting, furniture and accessories. The self-taught designer started out in the early 1980s, welding salvaged steel into radical pieces of furniture. He then worked with both the luxury and high-street ends of the interiors world, before becoming Creative Director of the Tom Dixon brand in 2002.
Tigermoth Lighting create statement lighting, handcrafted from the finest materials and made to order in England. The Tigermoth Lighting story is rooted in a passion for interiors, a strong engineering heritage and an unwavering attention to detail. Natural materials are the inspiration for their designs - hand-carved alabaster, hand cut crystals, delicate metal chains, luxurious silks and gold leaf are all set off by hand-crafted metalwork.
London-based design atelier Haberdashery weave their designs around the universal language of light and its ability to resonate with the human spirit; the results are designs with a distinctive character built around poetic narratives. Haberdashery presents a stunning blend of thoughtful design, rich materials, and subtle lighting effects, elevating the ambition of each project they collaborate on. Elements can be arranged in both standard and bespoke formations to create unique sculptural installations acting as focal points for high end interiors.
Established in 2006, Belgian lighting studio Authentage create timeless designs with endless possibilities. They combine high-quality, sustainable materials with the latest technology to create unique collections with a focus on outdoor lighting. Their aim is to design lighting with an authentic character products are skilfully and passionately hand-assembled in their workshop near Antwerp, Belgium.
The Montauk Lighting Co. is proud to present an exclusive collection of Hudson Valley Lighting Group products to the Australian market, wired and certified for Australia. HVLG seeks to inspire taking a designer-forward approach to the lighting process. The Team
Husband and wife duo Gino Premici and Marie Botsis-Premici are the force behind The Montauk Lighting Co. The couple share a love of architecture, travel and design. They are no strangers to building projects, having undertaken renovations and new home builds as owner-builders.
But Marie’s favourite times are her overseas trips, where she takes inspiration from discovering new places and the way different cultures create unique spaces. Marie is always looking up – never wanting to miss the lights.
Gino brings over twenty years of marketing and management experience to The Montauk Lighting Co. With previous roles spanning various industries including fashion retail marketing and ecommerce, his current role as General Manager at Home Base in Subiaco sees him revelling in all things home and interiors. Given his father has been a bricklayer and building supervisor for over 50 years, it's pretty much in his blood.
Gino has a passion for design - the visual and the built-form. He's a little obsessed with fonts and his love of branding has evolved through assisting many companies reposition themselves in the marketplace.
