Notes from Milan: Il Dolce Far Niente

Notes from Milan: Il Dolce Far Niente

Milan, as ever, captivates in layers. Rooted in history but always looking forward.

Between cultural highlights, architectural icons and a spot of shopping, these are some of our favourite places to savour the city’s food and hospitality.

Naturally, we begin at The Manzoni, Tom Dixon’s concept restaurant and gallery, where you’re invited to linger over lunch or aperitivo, immersed in his latest lighting installations. A must-visit.

In Brera, Casa Fiori Chiari offers a welcome pause in a stylish bistro setting. Just south of the city, Al Fresco lives up to its name with a leafy haven that takes you worlds away from the city’s bustle.

Langosteria (and in fact, all its venues) is a go-to for refined seafood, while Osteria del Gnocco Fritto delivers soul-satisfying comfort – Italian meats, cheeses and crispy fritto, say no more. For a quick bite, Peck’s, with the ultimate club sandwich, never misses.

Tucked inside Portrait Milano, a former seminary reimagined by the Ferragamo family, Beefbar offers stunning interiors and may just be the best seat in the city for people-watching.

Giacomo Milano is where we always return for delicate dolci, buttery pastries and our favourite caffé.

Milan invites you to endless discovery, dining, and to embrace the art of ‘il dolce far niente’.
